The SKIN DOG is a highly focussed technical longboard, for experienced surfers looking for a performance edge.
It features a long concave in the nose for extra lift and speed when nose ridding and double concave in the tail for drive and control. With a unique rocker profile and more lift in the nose for steep drops.
The SKIN DOG is the competition board of choice for a lot of top riders, and can handle waves up to 10 feet +. I have been shaping concaves since 1990, and from the start I was hooked on the speed that they produce, though they do have some problems, they can suck onto the wave face at high speed, and have a tendency to catch rails. I started working with a chine rail in the early 90’s, to make a concave “user friendly”, and found that they work very well. It’s a very simple design, basically the apex of the rail is raised off the bottom of the board, much the same as the 50/50 rail, but with no loss of speed. With the chine running almost to the front fins, the board will come up on it’s rail very easily, much like a “V” but again with no loss of speed. Put them with the chine rail and they produce a board that is fast – responsive – loose and forgiving.
